Available Merit Awards Scholarships

The Alumni Scholarship is an unrestricted annual award made available through gifts from alumni.

Ruth Butler Bailey Class of 1942 Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen majoring in any field within the School of Human Environmental Sciences.

Bank of America Scholarships is awarded to students interested in business and economics.

Board of Visitors Chancellor's Scholarship is an unrestricted annual award.

Hazel Nixon Brown Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who intend to major in Nursing. Preference is given to residents of Yadkin and Surry Counties.

Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryan Scholarship is an annual award for study in the Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics that includes opportunities for paid summer internships after the junior year, as well as a study abroad stipend.

The Ethel Virginia Butler Centennial Scholarship is an unrestricted annual award.

Barbara C. Carter and Hal B. Phillips, Jr. Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen majoring in mathematics (or related fields), the physical and biological sciences, or other science related majors offered by the College of Arts & Sciences. Preference for students who intend to teach at the secondary school level.

The Class of 1942 Centennial Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the Class of 1942.

The Class of 1944 Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the class of 1944.

The Class of 1945 Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the class of 1945. Preference will be given to female students who have demonstrated an interest in the following fields: Human Relations, International Studies, or Women's Studies.

Woman's College Class of 1951 Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the class of 1951.

The Class of 1955 Merit Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the class of 1955.

The Class of 1970 Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the class of 1970.

May Mebane Donoho Scholarship is an annual award made available through gifts from the estate of May Mebane Donoho.

The Carol Jean Eiserer Memorial Scholarship provides for out-of-state tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board for a graduate of the Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, majoring in Exercise and Sport Science.

The Marguerite Felton and Guita Marble Scholarship in Chemistry is an annual award for study in Chemistry or Biochemistry.

The James S. and Frances C. Ferguson Scholarship is awarded in alternate years to an out-of-state student.

50th Class Reunion Scholarship is made possible through on-going class gifts given by alumni on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their graduation from the University.

The Marion White Fisher, MD, Centennial Scholarship is an unrestricted annual award.

The Jefferson-Pilot Scholarship is an unrestricted annual award made possible by the Jefferson-Pilot Corporation of Greensboro.

The Elizabeth Louisa "Libby" Jones Scholarship is an annual award given for study in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or Chemistry.

Claudia Buchdahl Kadis Scholarship is awarded to NC residents pursuing a degree in the College of Arts & Sciences.

The Martha Fowler McNair Scholarship is awarded to incoming students majoring in any field of study within the College of Arts & Sciences. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment.

The Carolyn Bason Long Merit Scholarship is awarded to incoming students majoring in any field of study. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment.

Jaylee Montague Mead Merit Scholarship is awarded to incoming students majoring in any field within the College of Arts & Sciences.

Beverly C. Moore Scholarship is an annual unrestricted award.

The L. Richardson and Emily Preyer Scholarship is an annual unrestricted award.

Katharine Smith Reynolds Scholarship is made possible by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation of Winston-Salem for North Carolina residents. Reynolds Scholars are eligible to receive stipends for community service involvement, participation in an internship, and study abroad.

Susan Morris Safran Scholarship
is awarded to incoming freshman declaring a major in Nursing.

Corrine Sussman Segal Scholarship
is awarded to incoming freshman majoring in any field within the School of Education.

The Harry B. and Edith V. Sloan Memorial Scholarship
in Science, Mathematics and Health is an annual award made available through a gift from the Estate of Edith V. Sloan.

 

Available Dean's Scholars Program Scholarships

Charles Burchette Allen Scholarship is awarded for study in the Bryan School of Business & Economics.

J. Barnwell & Mary Blair Allison Scholarship is awarded for study in the School of Education.

Flossie Byrd Scholarship is awarded for study in the department of Religious Studies.

Carolina Steel Corporation Scholarship is awarded for study in the Bryan School of Business & Economics.

Katherine Smith Deberry And Cornelia Marshall Deberry Scholarship is awarded for study in the School of Education for those who are pursuing careers in teaching elementary education.

Virginia Morgan Dysard Scholarship is awarded for study in the School of Human Environmental Science.

Gilliam Scholarship is awarded to students from Burke County who demonstrate financial need and who will be majoring in the School of Education or the School of Human Environmental Science.

Patricia Bigby Lexie Memorial Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need for study in the Bryan School of Business & Economics.

Louise E. Lowe Scholarship is awarded for study in the School of Human Environmental Science.

Florence L. Schaeffer Scholarship is awarded for study in the department of Chemistry.

Madeleine B. Street Scholarship is awarded for study in the School of Human Environmental Science.

Gladys Thornton Memorial Nursing Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need for study in the School of Nursing.
