UNCG Scholarships

UNCG General Grants & Scholarships     

UNCG General Grants & Scholarships include funds awarded by the Financial Aid Office. Students should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the priority date of March 1st in order to apply for these funds. These scholarships are usually not renewable and are awarded based on applicant pool and fund availability. There are no separate applications for these scholarships.

Abwa University Scholarship	Awarded to female students who have financial need who are preparing for a career in business.
Tonja Faye Adams Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students preparing for a career in Business, preferably Finance.  Preference will be given to female students and students from Charlotte, NC.
Alpha Phi Omega Scholarship	Awarded to an incoming student on the basis of scholastic achievement and service to high school and/or community.  Financial need will be considered.
Alumni Fellowship Fund	Awarded to graduate students.
Martha Coble Atwater Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
Austin Memorial Scholarship	Awarded to students in any major at UNCG.
Baltimore Md Alumni Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic promise to entering undergraduate students from the state of Maryland.
Janet Weil Bluethenthal Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students who are NC residents.
Jane Taylor Brookshire Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate students at UNCG.  Financial need may be considered.
Jessie Lee And Landron Clifford Boney Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to students, preferably from Sampson County, NC.
Helen Huffines Boone Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to UNCG students.
Elisabeth Ann Bowles Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students.
Burlington Industries Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of merit to entering freshmen who are dependent children of active ITG employees.  Dependent children of company oficers are ineligible.  To apply, students must submit a letter of eligibility on ITG letterhead, signed by an ITG company official, to the Financial Aid Office no later than April 30th prior to the academic year of enrollment.
Hennie Erwin Bynum  Scholarship	Awarded to a female student from Burke County of the Presbyterian faith.  Recipient is nominated by the First Presbyterian Church of Morganton, NC.
Donald W. Cameron Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to students who have earned associates degrees from GTCC and have transferred to UNCG.
Audrey J. Cheek Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to entering, first-year students with a minimum 3.5 high school GPA.
Class Of 1946 Scholarship	Awarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement, with preference given to female students and students with financial need.
Class of 1965 Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to a rising junior.
Class Of 1966 Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need.
Maurice & Earlene Hardie Cox Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need .
Nancy Coleman Ross & Betty Ross Dickson Scholarship	Awarded to students in good standing, with preferences for the following:  students with financial need, students seeking degrees in the School of Human Environmental Sciences and/or the Bryan School of Business & Economics, and students from Mecklenberg County or the Pleasant Garden area of Guilford County.
Dr. Charlene Thomas Dale Memorial Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to female students who are rising juniors or seniors and who have declared a major in a professional field.
Maggie E. Davis Scholarship	Awarded to students attending UNCG who need financial assistance.  Preference will be given to NC residents.
Minerva Coppage Davis Endowed Scholarship	Awarded primarily on the basis of financial need to students from Jones County, with secondary consideration going to students from West Craven High School in Craven County, NC.
Evergreen Student Award	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students majoring in Mathematics or Computer Science.
Faculty Merit Scholarship In Math & Physics	Awarded on the basis of academic merit to students majoring in Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
Mr. And Mrs. W.Y. Farrell Memorial Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to undergraduate students.
H.L. & Beulah Coble Ferguson Memorial Scholarship	Awarded primarily on the basis of financial need, preferably to students from Durham, NC.  The First Baptist Church of Durham may submit nominations for recipients.
Marvin M. & Pearl D. Fowler Scholarship	Awarded to students enrolled at UNCG.
Lou Hardy Frye Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to an undergraduate student majoring in the School of Education.  First preference will go to an entering student who graduated from North Moore High School in Robbins, NC.  Second preference will go to entering students who are NC residents.
Gilliam Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to incoming students from Burke County majoring in HES or Education.
Nina Globus Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female students who are out-of-state residents.
Golden Chain Honor Society Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and service to a rising junior or senior who exemplifies the qualities of Golden Chain members.  Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and will be nominated by the Office of Student Life.
Martha Ogburn Goodson Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
Jane Guy Scholarship	Awarded to an undergraduate student from Avery, Watauga, Ashe, Mitchell or Yancy counties.  Preference is for students from Avery county.
Kathleen Pettit Hawkins Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
Vera Mae Hedrick Scholarship	Awarded to students from NC or from Piedmont Virginia (which includes the following counties:  Loudoun, Clarke, Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock, Madison, Orange, Greene, and Albemarle).
Bain Henderson Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female students who are NC residents, with preference for students from the City of Mount Holly.
Joseph S. & Estelle J. Himes Recruitment Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to incoming students who are graduates of NC high schools and who are majoring in a field within the College of Arts & Sciences.
Elizabeth D. Holcomb Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students who are majoring in the Bryan School of Business & Economics, with preference going to those students who have an interest in Business Education.
Wilhelmina D. And Dr. Jack C. Horner Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate students from western NC, with preference for students  from Mitchell, Avery or Yancy Counties.
Jennie Cummings And Benjamin H. Hoskins Scholarship	Awarded to students enrolled at UNCG.
Kenneth C. Hunt Memorial Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to continuing students (sophomores, juniors or seniors).
Robinette Meador Husketh Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in HES, with preference for students from Rockingham and/or Granville counties.
Betty Brown Jester Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need.
Kernersville VFW Scholarship	Awarded to students who are nominated by VFW Post 5352 in Kernersville, NC.  Scholarship is renewable.
Junius & Elizabeth Parker Ketchie Scholarship	Awarded to academically promising undergraduate students.
Roxie Armfield King Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female students who are residents of NC.
Blair Lyle Krakowski Scholarship
Mildred Salter & Wren E. Lawrence Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students from Carteret County, NC.
Rebekah C. Lee Scholarship	Awarded primarily on the basis of financial need to incoming freshmen students from Smith High School in Greensboro, NC, with preference going to female students.  Recipients should be in the top 20% of their high school class and have good character and citizenship.
Ryan Lee Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to out-of-state students, who are enrolled full-time, from Morris County, NJ.  Secondary preference will be given to students from Warren & Hunterdon Counties in NJ, and last preference will be given to students from Sussex, Bergen, Union, Mercer, Somerset, and Essex Counties in NJ.  Recipients must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Lomax Family Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student who is actively participating in an internship during the year for which the award is given.  Recipients must be Guilford County residents and must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA.  Career Services nominates recipients.
Julius Matheson Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of need to female students from the following counties:  Alamance, Anson, Burke, Cabarrus, Caswell, Chatham, Concord, Durham, Gaston, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham, Union, Vance, Wake or Warren.
Virginia Mayberry Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students at UNCG.
Helen Mcbee Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to a student from Mitchell High School in Mitchell County, NC.  If there are no eligible candidates in a given year, the award may be given to a student from Western NC.
H. Mcbee Charitable Trust Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students from western NC, with preference given to students from Mitchell High School in Mitchell County, NC.  Scholarship may be renewable provided recipients maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Elaine Bell Mccoy Memorial Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to female Bryan School majors who are from eastern NC.
Nell Davis Mccoy Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
Albert & Roxie Perry Mcdougald Scholarship	Awarded to students enrolled at UNCG.
Dr. Neill Mcleod Community College Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student transferring, with sophomore or junior status, to UNCG from one of North Carolina's community colleges.  Financial need may also be considered.
Martha Fowler Mcnair Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to incoming first-time freshman, enrolled full-time, majoring in any discipline within the College of Arts & Sciences.  Award is renewable provided the student maintains a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Hattie Deberry Meisenheimer Scholarship	Awarded to students attending UNCG.
"Monroe Misses" Scholarship	Awarded to promising first-time students, with a preference for a resident of Monroe, Union County, NC.
Walter & Marilyn Mccollum Moore Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of high academic achievement to incoming freshmen, with a preference for students from Rockingham County.
Mereb Mossman Endowed Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students majoring in Sociology.
Neese Country Sausage Scholarship	Awarded to students who are the children or grandchildren of current employees of Neese Country Sausage, Inc.  Recipients are nominated by Neese Country Sausage, Inc.
Rebecca R. Nicholson, Magna J. Nicholson And Audrie Nicholson Bolling Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need.
Barnes & Noble Fund For Excellence	Awarded to students who earned a 4.0 cumulative GPA and completed  at least 28 credit hours during their freshman year.
Oleta Norman Scholarship	Awarded to support graduate students in any discipline
School Of Nursing Freshman Or Sophomore Scholarship	Awarded to freshman or sophomore students who intend to major in Nursing.  Preference will be given to NC residents & those students with financial need.
Ruth Privott Peele Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of high academic achievement to incoming freshman (minimum 3.5 high school GPA & minimum 1100 SAT [combined critical reading & math sections]).  In some instances, the scholarship may be awarded to a current continuing student who has a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and is from one of the following counties:  Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Northhampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell, and Washingon Counties.  Recipients must be enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in order for the scholarship to be renewed.
Palmyra Pharr Scholarship	Awarded to students from Rowan and Cabarrus counties.
Pratt Family Foundation Scholarship	Awarded to a student on the basis of merit and financial need.
Alice Mcarver Ratchford Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female, undergraduate students.  In order to receive the scholarship, recipients must meet (and maintain) the following criteria:  must live on-campus, must not possess an automobile, must be single, and may not have any other scholarships in conjunction with the Ratchford Scholarship.
Dorothy Dillon Raymer and Augustus Barker Raymer Memorial Scholarship	Awarded to students, with consideration given to financial need.
Bessie Holmes Robbins And George B. Robbins Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students who are NC residents, with preference being given to students from Alamance County and students who attended Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC.
David B. And Mary Umstead Roberts Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female students from Durham County, preferably female students from Mangum Township.
Dr. Charlotte Roberts Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students at UNCG, with a preference for female students.
Emma Allison Robertson Memorial Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students from Iredell, Yadkin and Wilkes Counties.
Sampson County Alumni Chapter/Faye West Warren Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students, preferably freshmen, from Sampson County, NC.
Katherine Y. Scharrer Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students from Avery County, NC.
Senior Class Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement.
Joseph H. & Mary Sherrill Scholarship	Awarded to full-time, undergraduate students with financial need from Alleghany County.  If there are no qualified students from Alleghany County, students from Ashe, Surry or Wilkes Counties can be considered.
Judge H. Hoyle Sink Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students from rural areas of NC.
Stanback Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement.  Preference for students from Rowan County.
Taylor George Steele Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to an entering male student who attended Western Guilford High School.
Sigmund Sternberger Scholarship/Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation	Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, undergraduate students, who are long-time residents of Guilford County, NC.
Dr. Patricia A. Sullivan and Dr. Charles W. Sullivan Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time, undergraduate students. Scholarship may be renewed provided recipients continue to meet eligibility requirements.
Flora O. Stern Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students.
Thomasville Furniture Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need, with preference given to students from Thomasville and Davidson County.
Lora Reeves Thrash Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in the Bryan School of Business & Economics.  First preference will be given to female students from western NC.
Toleo Foundation Scholarship Fund	Awarded on the basis of financial need and high academic achievement to undergraduate students, enrolled full-time, from Guilford County, NC.  Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA for renewal of the scholarship.
William Holt And Ella (Rea) Turrentine Scholarship (New)	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students from Alamance County who are enrolled full-time.
University Stores Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students.
University Womens Club Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to an incoming freshman student.
Kate Nelson Fenner Urquhart And Florence Estelle Fenner Conrad Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students from Bertie and/or Halifax Counties in NC, with first preference going to female students from those counties.
Charlotte & W. Dabney White Research Award	Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students who are involved in pure or applied scientific research.
Mrs. Earle G. (Josie N.) White Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a graduate of Statesville Senior High, with a preference for students majoring in Education.
Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to female, Christian, undergraduate students from the following southeastern states:  Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  An application for this scholarship can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.
Elizabeth Steinhardt Widmer And Ray Price Widmer Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and participation in extra-curricular activities.
Jewel Sydney Williams Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to incoming freshmen.
Lillie Boney Williams Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need, with preference given to students majoring in Music, the Liberal Arts or Nursing.
Mary Ann Winslow & Alma Winslow West Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement, with preference given to students from the general areas of Elizabeth City, NC and/or Richmond, VA.
Lillian B. Wortham & Callie Bronson Wortham Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to female students.
