UNCG Scholarships

School of Human Environmental Services     

All funds awarded by the School of Human Environmental Sciences require the completion of the School of Human Environmental Sciences Scholarship Application. Completion of one application provides consideration for all funds. This application is generallyh available in early November at the individual academic departments. It is also available through the Office of the Dean, School of Human Environmental Sciences, (336) 334-5980. All interested students are encouraged to apply for aid. The application deadline is generally around mid December. Recipients will be notified in March or April of the following year.

Harry Byrd Lee Adams Scholarship	Awarded to graduate students in the Department of Interior Architecture.  Preference for NC residents.
Naomi G. Albanese Doctoral Fellowship	Awarded to a doctoral student in HES, with leadership experience being the primary criteria.
Richard & Pamela Allen Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to Interior Architecture majors.  Recipients must be U.S. citizens.  In order to be considered for renewal, students must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Phi Alpha Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of merit to a Social Work major who is a member of Phi Alpha.
American Apparel Foundation Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies.
Kristin Anderson Scholarship	Awarded to a student majoring in Interior Architecture.
Aramark Internship Program Scholarship	Awarded to full-time students majoring in Nutrition who participate in an internship with Aramark.
Linda & Roy Arrington Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of merit to students majoring in Interior Architecture.  Financial need may also be considered.
Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students majoring in Interior Architecture.
Frances B. Buchanan Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies
Helen Canaday Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to a junior majoring in Child Development.
The Child Development Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to a rising junior or senior, or to a graduate student, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Developemnt.
Dr. Barbara N. Clawson Nonwestern International Travel Fund	Awarded to undergraduate students who wish to participate in a semester long program abroad in nonwestern or nontraditional nations and who are enrolled in the school of Human Environmental Sciences.
Marion Stedman Covington Fellowship In Historic Preservation	Awarded to graduate students majoring in Interior Architecture.
Carolyn Willis Cunningham Scholarship	Awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Nutrition.
Mildred B. Davis Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of merit to students majoring in Nutrition, with preference given to undergraduate students.  Financial need may also be considered.
Avery Dennison Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to rising seniors in the Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies department.  Recipients must complete a 150 hour paid internship during the summer prior to their senior year.
Virginia Morgan Dysard Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to outstanding HES majors.
Mary Glendinning Elam Scholarship	Awarded to entering graduate students majoring in Interior Architecture.  Strong undergraduate students may also be considered.
Jewel and Bob Hoogstoel International Scholarship	Awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Interior Architecture who have an interest in international travel and studying abroad.
Sue Ramsey Johnston Ferguson Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in Nutrition.
Food & Nutrition Club Scholarship	Awarded to a student majoring in Nutrition.
Vera Armfield Foscue Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in Interior Architecture.
Elizabeth Hathaway Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students majoring in Interior Architecture.
Hattie, Hattie, Sallie Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to HES majors.  Recipients must be residents of NC, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and must be enrolled full-time.
Glenda & Philip Herman Scholarship	Awarded to students in the School of HES.
Hes Alumni Association Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate HES majors.
Hes Cultural Diversity Enhancement Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to full-time HES majors.
Ellen Hickman Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.
Edith S. Hinshaw Scholarship	Awarded to HES majors, with preference for students with financial need.
Louise Carter Hoffler Fund	Awarded to HES majors.
James B. And Carolyn L. Hunt Early Childhood Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students in the Birth-Kindergarten program.
Jefferson-Pilot Corp Fellowship	Awarded to graduate students involved in research in the Department of Nutrition.
Pauline E. Keeney Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to rising juniors and seniors majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies.
Mary Keister Fellowship	Awarded to a doctoral student in Human Development & Family Studies for achievement in the areas of infancy and early childhood.
Kellenberger Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to HES majors from Johnston or Onslow counties.
E. York Kiker Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.
Mose Kiser Scholarship	Awarded to HES students majoring in Nutrition.
Richard Klemer Graduate Scholarship	Awarded to graduate students majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.
Rossie Henley Lindsey Graduate Fellowship In Nutrition	Awarded to graduate students in the Department of Nutrition.
John C. Lockhart Scholarship	Awarded to HES majors.
Edward Loewenstein Graduate Award	Awarded to outstanding prospective graduate students in the Interior Architecture program, with preference given to students with a concentration in Historic Preservation.
Louise E. Lowe Scholarship	Awarded to HES majors
Aden Magee Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Nutrition.
Miriam Scott Mayo & Hazaleene Tate Scott Scholarship	Awarded to HES majors.
Elsa A. Mcmullen & Naomi G. Albanese Undergraduate Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Nutrition.
Glenda Kay Mitchell Undergraduate Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate student interns majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies.
M. Elisabeth Mallison Moore & Karen Grace Carville Memorial Scholarship	Awarded to a graduate student in the Department of Nutrition who is an intern in dietetics.
Annette L. Moore Scholarship	Awarded to upperclassmen majoring in Nutrition.
Charles C. And Charlyene J. Moyer Scholarship in Nutrition	Awarded primarily on the basis of financial need to students who have declared a field of study in the Department of Nutrition.
Amanda Joyce Patton Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate students in Interior Architecture.  Recipients must be NC residents and must be enrolled full-time.
Betty Rowe Penny Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate HES majors.  Preference will be given to students with financial need and students from Eastern North Carolina.
Preservation Greensboro Incorporated Fund	Awarded for the purpose of providing stipends for Interior Architecture graduate students to attend historic preservation conferences
Sam A. & Cornelia Lowe Rankin Undergraduate Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students in the School of HES who are full-time and who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for at least 12 credit hours at UNCG.  Preference given to those with financial need.
Julia Richman Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.
Thomas B. Scullion International Program Fund	This program fund is used to support students and faculty in the Department of Social Work who are participating in an international exchange program with the Department.
Dr. Nancy J. Sears Fellowship	Awarded to an outstanding doctoral student, with preference given to a doctoral student majoring in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies.
Esther F. Segner Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to HES majors.
Anna Howard Shaw Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement.
Dr. Helen A. Shaw Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students in HES.
Shivers Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of need and merit to students majoring in Social Work and Sociology (award alternates between departments).
Barbara Alley Simon Scholarship in Memory of Grace Brown Alley	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
Dorothy Elliot Sink Scholarship	Awarded to a junior or senior HES major, with preference given to those with financial need.
Rebecca Mcculloch Smith Scholarship	Awarded to a graduate student in family studies in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
Social Work Excellence Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic merit to rising junior, seniors or graduate students majoring in Social Work.
Cheryl Sosnik Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in, or intending to major in, Child Development in the department of Human Development and Family Studies.  Disabled students and/or those planning to work with disabled children will be considered first.  Applicants from Gaston County will also be given priority.
Irwin V. Sperry Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students in the School of HES.
Sarah & David Stedman Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a graduate student majoring in Nutrition.
Stern-Ruskin Scholarship	Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Social Work, with a preference for students interested in Gerontology.
Madeleine B. Street Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in HES.
S. Virginia Wilson Scholarship	Awarded to students majoring in HES.
Doris T. Teeter & Perry L. Teeter Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student in Nutrition who is interested in studying the field of nutritional biochemistry or nutritional metabolism and/or planning to obtain an advanced research degree, with preference for students fro Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, or Alleghany counties. Recipients must be NC residents. If there are no eligible students from the specified counties, then the scholarship may be awarded to a student in the junior class of the Department of Nutrition.
Nell Wilborn Thayer Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to students majoring in HES.
Textile Products Design & Marketing Excellence Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of academic merit to graduate students majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retails Studies.
Barbara Reynolds Todd Scholarship	Awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, with preference given to students studying child development (preferably Birth through Kindergarten Teacher Licensure Program). Additional preference will be given to residents from Wilkes and Yadkin counties.
James E. Vaughn Scholarship	Awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies.  Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, fees, room, board and books.
VF Graduate Fellowship	Awarded to incoming or continuing graduate students majoring in Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies, with preference given to international students.
Dr. Jacqueline H. Voss Scholarship	Awarded to an HES major.
Mina Weil Memorial Scholarship	Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in a social science.  Award rotates among multiple academic departments.
Dr. J. Nancy White Undergraduate Scholarship	Awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.  Consideration given to financial need and academic merit.
Margaret Ann Wilkes Consumer, Apparel, And Retail Studies Scholarship Through The Women'S Professional Forum Foundation	Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to a rising sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies.  Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
D. Elizabeth Williams International Scholarship	Awarded to a graduate level international student majoring in HES.
Bob Wineburg Scholarship In Community Services	Awarded to students whose major is in the Dept. of Social Work.  Preference will be given to nontraditional students returning to school, and who exhibit financial need and who have an interest in community service.
Clem A. Wright & Atha C. Wright Fund	Awarded to a graduate student majoring in Nutrition.
