Cheshire Center Award
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to full-time students admitted to the CSD graduate program in speech-language pathology. The award may be renewed for one year if the student maintains a 3.5 GPA.

Dr. Jacqueline M. Cimorelli Scholarship in Communication Science and Disorders
Awarded to deserving students with declared field of study within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Scholarship may be renewable for up to 3 years.

Quota Club Scholarship
Awarded annually on the basis of academic achievement to one undergraduate and one graduate student majoring in Communication Sciences & Disorders. Recipients must be enrolled full-time
and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

University Speech & Hearing Scholarship
Awarded to students majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Management. Recipients must have a mimimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Dorothy Davis Scholarship
Awarded to junior majoring in Recreation, Tourism & Hospitality Management. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must have been a full-time student for at least 2 semesters.

Grace Blackmoore Deely '54 Scholarship
Awarded to students in Community and Therapeutic Recreation major.

Christopher C. Harvey Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to full-time, undergraduate students with above average GPA and majoring in Community and Therapeutic Recreation.

Awarded on the basis of financial need to students pursuing an MS or post-baccalaureate certification in Gerontology, preference for student interested in working with older persons with Alzheimer's and dementia. Academic achievement secondary consideration.

Awarded to undergraduate students in the Birth-Kindergarten program.

Mary Keister Fellowship
Awarded to a doctoral student in Human Development & Family Studies for achievement in the areas of infancy and early childhood.


E. York Kiker Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.

Vira R. Kivett Outstanding Graduate Publication Award in Human Development and Family Studies
Awarded to graduate student who has demonstrated research excellence by publishing research in a nationally-recognized journal in the field of human development or family studies.


Richard Klemer Graduate Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.

Julia Richman Scholarship
Awarded to students majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.


Esther F. Segner Human Development & Family Studies Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students majoring in Human & Family Development Studies.

Barbara Alley Simon Scholarship in Memory of Grace Brown Alley
Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Social Work, Interior Architecture, Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies, Human Development and Family Studies, or Nutrition. Scholarship rotates among these departments each year.

Dorothy Elliot Sink Scholarship
Awarded to a full time junior or senior Nutrition major with a 3.00 GPA or higher. Preference given to those with financial need.

Rebecca McCulloch Smith Scholarship
Awarded to a graduate student in family studies in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.

Cheryl Sosnik Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in, or intending to major in, Child Development in the department of Human Development and Family Studies. Disabled students and/or those planning to work with disabled children will be considered first. Applicants from Gaston County will also be given priority.


Barbara Reynolds Todd Scholarship
Awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, with preference given to students studying child development (preferably Birth through Kindergarten Teacher Licensure Program). Additional preference will be given to residents from Wilkes and Yadkin counties.

Dr. J. Nancy White Undergraduate Scholarship
Awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Human Development & Family Studies. Consideration given to financial need and academic merit.


Virginia Wilson Scholarship in Human Development and Family Studies
Awarded to students majoring in Human Development & Family Studies.

Awarded to doctoral student in Kinesiology specializing in physical education teacher education.

Rosemary McGee Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time rising sophomore, junior or senior in the School of Health and Human Performance, with preference given to a student majoring in Exercise and Sport Science. Must have 3.65 minimum cumulative GPA. Leadership skills, community service and financial need will be secondary considerations. Scholarship is renewable.

Physical Education Class 1959/Rosemary Mcgee Scholarship In Sports Medicine
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a rising senior, enrolled full-time, with a concentration in the Sports Medicine program in the Department of Exercise & Sport Science. Recipients must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.

P.E. Class Of 1975 Hielscher Teaching Scholarship
Awarded to a rising senior student, enrolled full-time, majoring in Exercise & Sport Science who plans to teach. Preference will be given to students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

JoAnne Safrit Undergraduate Kinesiology Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a rising junior or senior majoring in Kinesiology. Recipients must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Jo Anne Thorpe Scholar-Service Award
Awarded to undergraduate, female Kinesiology major with concentration in Physical Education K-12. Student must possess 3.75 GPA or higher and must document service to department and UNCG.

Betsy Umstead Undergraduate Scholarship
Awarded to a rising junior or senior student, enrolled full-time, majoring in Exercise & Sport Science. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Preference will be given to students from NC who have financial need and who plan to teach.

Doris T. Teeter & Perry L. Teeter Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student in Nutrition who is interested in studying the field of nutritional biochemistry or nutritional metabolism and/or planning to obtain an advanced research degree, with preference for students fro Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, or Alleghany counties. Recipients must be NC residents. If there are no eligible students from the specified counties, then the scholarship may be awarded to a student in the junior class of the Department of Nutrition.

Dr. Ron G. Morrow Graduate Fellowship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to graduate students in the School of Health and Human Performance who have indicated an intention to study one or more of the following topics: diversity in education (relating to sexual orientation, homophobia, ethnicity, etc.) and/or women's health and wellness and/or pedagogical innovation across the educational spectrum. Preference will be given to NC residents and financial need may be a consideration. Award is renewable.

June P. Galloway HHP Scholarship
Awarded primarily on the basis of teaching potential to a rising junior or senior enrolled in a teacher education sequence in the School of Health and Human Performance (award rotates between students of the Departments of Exercise and Sport Science and Dance). Recipients must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Financial need may also be considered.


Priscilla Mullen Gowen Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate student in the School of Health and Human Performance who have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Awarded to students demonstrating leadership skills or potential and who are active in on-campus extracurricular activities.

Nancy Burton Hockett Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate HHP majors who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular and/or service activities.

Fiona Lawrence Diversity Scholarship in Public Health Education
Awarded to full-time undergraduate students primarily on the basis of academic achievement with financial need as secondary consideration.

Marge Leonard Scholarship
Awarded to a rising sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in one the departments of the School of Health and Human Performance. Recipients must demonstrate leadership ability and be in a program that focuses on developing teaching & interpersonal skills to be used in an educational setting.

Karen Lux Scholarship Fund
Awarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement to a rising sophomore, junior or senior who is majoring in any discipline in the School of Health and Human Performance. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated an interest in teaching and/or youth development programs in schools or the community. Financial need may also be considered.

Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in a social science. Award rotates among multiple academic departments.

Bob Wineburg Scholarship In Community Services
Awarded to students whose major is in the Dept. of Social Work. Preference will be given to nontraditional students returning to school, and who exhibit financial need and who have an interest in community service.

Virginia Wilson Scholarship in Social Work
Awarded to students majoring in Social Work.
