Fall 2018 Disbursement Information

Posted on Thursday, July 26th, 2018 by fiaadm under News.

We understand that it can be hard to reach the Financial Aid Office (finaid@uncg.edu) or the Cashier’s Office (cashiers@uncg.edu) after the bills go out.  Phone calls, emails and in person visits increase dramatically during this time.  Feel free to use these self-guided tips to help avoid the crowds and start your semester right.

Registration Confirmation

You must have your registration confirmed (payment arrangements are complete) to avoid having your classes dropped. You can verify if your Fall 2018 registration has been confirmed on UNCGenie.

  • Log in with your UNCG ID and PIN
  • Click Student Services and Financial Aid
  • Select Payment Confirmation. Select the Term and click Submit.

Make sure you have accepted enough aid and/or you have made satisfactory payment arrangements for your bill to confirm your registration.

Disbursements and Refunds

Fall 2018 financial aid funds will be paid to student accounts starting August 4, 2018 for students who are registered for fall classes and whose registration is confirmed.   On August 6, 2018, the Cashier’s Office will begin to process refunds to students and students should receive them by August 10th.  Over 50% of our students receive their refunds before the first day of classes.  To ensure you are one of these students, check the following items:

  1. Accept all of the financial aid you want for the year. Refunds are generated because you have more aid than your charges each semester.  Use the UNCGenie Guide for help.
  2. Complete the Title IV Authorizations for aid (for the Cashier’s Office) by clicking on this link.
  3. Resolve financial aid holds including being enrolled in repeat hours that can impact your financial aid. (You must be enrolled at least half time to receive funds from most aid programs: Undergraduate and Graduate Licensure -6 hours per semester; Graduate – 4.5 hours per semester.)
  4. Complete all outstanding requirements, especially the Master Promissory Note and/or Entrance Counseling for your loans. If you have just accepted your loan in the last 3 weeks, work is continuing on those loans. You will see the MPN requirement updated after you have accepted it and certification is complete. You may track this on UNCGenie.
  5. Check your Satisfactory Academic Progress link in UNCGenie. If you need to submit an appeal, click here for more information.

If you do not have money applied to your account by August 4th, you will need to resolve one or more of the above issues in order for your aid to pay.   Once you have resolved the issue, your funds will be paid on your student bill.  If you are due a refund, it will be processed the week following the payment.

We hope these tips will help give you a smooth start to the semester!
