New Applicants

When a student applies for Financial Aid for the first time the first step is creating the FSA ID needed to file the FAFSA.

Once the student has an FSA ID, then they can move onto filing the FAFSA. If parent information is required then a parent will also need to create an FSA ID; to determine if you need parent information check and see if you will be considered dependent for FAFSA purposes. If you are not sure which parent information to include or have questions about reporting their information please refer here.

We have several guides to help you through the application process:

  • First Steps Brochure is a pdf that we update each year with step by step guidance for the process.
  • How to Apply gives you an overview of the major steps to make sure that you receive your aid.

If you’re not sure what kind of student you are classified as you may want to review our Student Types to help you understand how to answer those questions on the FAFSA and what you may be eligible for.

Incoming Freshman should check out the information on the New Student Convocation!
