UNCG Grants and Scholarships: School of Education

School of Education scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, and other specific criteria for certain scholarships. Priority is given to students who have already been admitted or will have applications pending admission into the School of Education by the end of each spring semester. Amy R. Benedict Scholarship Fund for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher PreparationAwarded on the basis of financial need to full time juniors or seniors in a major that leads to a degree from the Specialized Education Services' Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher Preparation program.
Ann Tillotson Street Scholarship in EducationAwarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to entering freshmen who intend to major in Education. Recipient must possess a GPA of 3.00 or higher. First preference given to entering freshmen from Richmond County, NC.
Anna M. Kreimeier Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need to students in the School of Education, preferably to juniors or seniors who plan to pursue a career in teaching.
Annie McIver Young ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of financial need to a senior student in the School of Education.
Arc Greensboro Special Education ScholarshipAwarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the licensure programs for special education teachers. Recipients must agree in writing to a service requirement, to be detailed and tracked by the Department of Specialized Education Services. Please contact the Department of Specialized Education Services for additional information about this scholarship.
Barbara Davis Berryhill And Leigh Berryhill Scholarship
Awarded to students who are planning to become teachers. Recipients will be students who have demonstrated a commitment to teach, excellence in the classroom, and leadership skills. Scholarship is renewable with a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Carrie Perkins Davis/Katherine Davis Smith Scholarship in EducationAwarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students majoring in any field of study in the School of Education. Preference given to students from rural communities in Eastern, NC.
Celia Gomedela Jolley ScholarshipAwarded to undergraduate or graduate students who is pursuing a degree in the School of Education and who has special circumstances and/or financial need.
Crystal Dawn Wood Scholarship FundAwarded to juniors or seniors enrolled in the Educational Interpreter Program. Award may be renewed for one additional year provided recipients maintain high academic standing.
David G. & Nancy J. Armstrong Graduate Students' Scholarship In EducationAwarded to graduate students enrolled in advanced degree programs in the School of Education.
Don & Mary Olson Scholarship In Reading Education
Awarded to part-time MA degree candidates in Reading Education. Recipients must be within 12 credit hours of graduation to be eligible.
Dr. Marilyn L. Miller Scholarship
Awarded to students who are enrolled in a degree program in the department of Library & Information Studies.
Eberhart Family Scholarship Awarded to students majoring in the School of Education.
Elizabeth Langford Davenport ScholarshipAwarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate, NC residents who have an interest in pursuing a course of study in the field of education. Financial need will also be a consideration.
Eloise Woosley Cates ScholarshipAwarded to students in the School of Education who demonstrate a commitment to teach, excellence in the classroom and leadership skills or potential.
Emmie Dark Lane ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of financial need to full time students on the School of Education.
Esther Cobb Pinnix Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers ScholarshipAwarded to a public school teacher, teaching in Rockingham County, who is enrolled at UNCG to pursue additional education or an advanced degree to further his/her teaching career. Award is made with consideration given to commitment to the teaching field, commitment to teaching in Rockingham County public schools, commitment to professional development, academic performance and financial need. If no recipient is available from Rockingham County, individuals teaching in Wayne County public schools can be considered.

Eugenia Hunter-Curry School ScholarshipAwarded to students in the School of Education.
Gail Broadway Curry ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of academic achivement to juniors or seniors who plan to teach science, with a preference given to female students born in and residing in NC. There is a further preference for those planning to teach biology.
Harlan S. Cato ScholarshipAwarded to students enrolled in deaf and hard-of-hearing-related programs offered by the department of Specialized Education Services. Award may be renewable provided recipients maintain high academic standing.

Jacqueline W. & Jack H. Varner ScholarshipAwarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement to undergraduate, NC residents who have an interest in pursuing a course of study in elementary education. Financial need will also be a consideration.
Jerome And Harriett Evenson Scholarship Awarded to an entering undergraduate student with financial need who has the intention of becoming an Education major. Preference will be given to students from New Hanover County.

Mason Family Scholarship in EducationAwarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students majoring in any field of study in School of Education. First preference for students from Carteret County, NC. If no student from this county then Eastern NC is next preference and final preference is for any student from North Carolina majoring in Education.
Michael M. Lombardo FellowshipAwarded to students enrolled in a program in the School of Education leading to an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Recipients should be full-time and involved in research related to business and/or industry. The award may be renewed.
Middle School Leadership ScholarshipAwarded to students majoring in a field of study within the School of Education. First preference will be given to a student from Mecklenburg County.
Mildred Boyles White Corbett Scholarship FundAwarded to undergraduate students majoring in Elementary Education.
Mollie Anne Peterson ScholarshipAwarded to female students in the School of Education who plan to teach.
Monroe/Cox ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to students in the School of Education who plan to teach. Recipients must be residents of NC.

Pauline Fields Myrick ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to juniors or seniors, with a preference for students from Moore County, NC, who are enrolled full-time in a degree program leading to certification in teaching. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and should be committed to teaching in NC public schools for a minimum of 5 years following graduation. Award is renewable for one additional year provided recipient is in good standing with the University and the School of Education.
Pilot Club Scholarship for Specialized Education ServicesAwarded to students in the Specialized Eduation program in the School of Education. Preference will be given to incoming freshmen.
Robert & Lois Shiffler ScholarshipAwarded on the basis of academic achievement to full-time, NC residents who are majoring in a discipline in the School of Education. For entering students, selection criteria will include a minimum 1100 SAT and evidence of extracurricular activities. Award may be renewable provided recipients maintain a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA.
Ron & Linda Jones Scholarship For Excellence In TeachingAwarded on the basis of academic achievement to students enrolled in the School of Education who are committed to becoming either primary or secondary education teachers in NC public schools. Recipients must have a mimimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Award may be renewable for one additional year.
Rph Class Of '47 ScholarshipAwarded to education majors from Hendersonville, NC or Polk County, NC. If no student meets both the geographic and Education major preference, the scholarship may be awarded to any students from Hendersonville, NC or Polk County, NC, pursuing any degree.

THA Foundation Scholarship In Elementary EducationAwarded to students who are committed to teaching at the elementary school level. Recipients must be enrolled full-time, must be U.S. citizens and must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
